Vision Mission and Values of the Public Health Nursing Division 2006-2010

            In 2000, all nursing and allied grades staff in the Department of Health worked out the vision statement and values of the Public Health Nursing Division (PHND) from 2000 to 2005. Over these years, nurses have been striving to promote the health of the community and enhance quality of public health nursing services with the shared goals.

            There have been many changes in the development of public health nursing services in recent years. Nursing staff have taken up extended and expanded roles in different service areas. There is a need to review the current goals of public health nursing and to identify directions for the way forward.

            In early 2006, senior staff of the nursing grade, led by Principal Nursing Officer and two Chief Nursing Officers, worked out the vision and mission statements of PHND for the next five years from 2006 to 2010. The values of PHND. were also developed with the valuable inputs from all staff by the end of 2006.

Mission

     -     We develop expertise and professionalism in public health nursing through capacity building and continuous professional development.

     -     We pursue excellence in providing holistic health care for clients through quality assurance and evidence-based nursing practice.

     -      We strive to improve the health of individuals, families and the community through empowerment, partnership and advocacy.
