Primary Care Public Health Nursing Service

II. Health protection services under the Centre for Health Protection

 

A.  Surveillance and Epidemiology Branch

  

Epidemiology Section

l             Participate in the prevention and control of communicable diseases including prompt investigation of reported cases of notifiable diseases or health incidents, tracing contacts, ensuring patients' compliance with treatment regimen, taking appropriate measures in controlling the spread of diseases, and maintaining health surveillance of high-risk groups.

l             Carry out inspection and provide appropriate advices to the registered Pre-primary Institutions, and conduct relevant health education and health promotion activities.

 

School Immunisation Teams

l              Provide immunisation service to primary school children;

l              Provide mop-up immunisation services for primary school children newly immigrated to Hong Kong;

l              Provide health education to the public on immunisation.

 

Central Health Education Unit

l              Develop, monitor and review the strategy for promoting health in Hong Kong;

l              Coordinate and strengthen cohesiveness of action across all working groups in community for promoting health;

l              Participate in building and collecting evidence for good practices in health promotion;

l              Participate in developing and enhancing workforce capacity;

l              Communicate and campaign for health improvement;

l              Assist in involving the community in all aspects of health promotion;

l              Produce different types of health education materials and disseminate health information to the public through various channels to empower the community to better control and improve their health.

 

Community Liaison Division

l              Communicate with community stakeholders on Departmental policies;

l              Serve as a focal point for community liaison on matters related to public health and health promotion;

l              Partner with the Central Health Education Unit and community groups in the planning, implementation and evaluation of health promotion programmes.
