Primary Care Public Health Nursing Service

 

Food Incidents Response and Management Unit

Participate in the management and prevention of food incidents including:

l              To assist in the investigation of food poisoning and food borne infectious diseases in food premises;

l              To assist in identifying the contributing factors in the outbreaks and tracing sources of unwholesome food;

l              To plan and implement health education and promotion activities to food handlers on personal, food and environmental hygiene.

 

 

Occupational Health Service

l              Enhance the health of the working population through prevention, diagnosis and treatment of occupational diseases;

l              Organize occupational health promotion activities for the employers and employees of various occupations and industries;

l              Arrange sick leave clearance or medical assessment boards for employees injured at work or having contracted prescribed occupational diseases in the context of employees¡¦ compensation claims;

l              Participate as the multidisciplinary inspection team members of the Integrated Service Group in carrying out inspections to workplaces and in conducting accident investigations.

 

 

Office For Registration Of Healthcare Institutions

l       As member of the Hospital Inspection Team, conduct inspection visits to private hospitals (PH)/nursing homes (NH) to examine compliance with the relevant ordinances and code of practice as well as provide professional advices on patient safety and quality of care;

l       Take follow-up actions to ensure the implementation of recommended improvement measures in PH/NH;

l       Liaise with the Nurse in-charge of PH/NH on issues related to the upholding of nursing standards, patient safety and quality of care;

l       Handle complaints against PH/NH and prepare replies to the complainants;

l       Investigate untoward incidents/medical incidents/sentinel events reported by PH/NH and make recommendations to the management of PH/NH to minimise recurrence of similar incidents/events; 

l       Participate in the preparation/updating of the 'Report for the Registration of Hospitals & Maternity Homes', 'Report for the Registration of Nursing Homes' and 'Code of Practice for Private Hospitals, Nursing Homes and Maternity Homes¡¦ '

l       As representative of the Department, maintain effective communication with government and non-government organisations and provide input on issues related to the nursing profession, as required.
