QUALITY IMPROVEMENT TOOLS AND TECHNIQUES

Selection Grid 1

Definition : A grid designed to help teams select an option out of several possibilities.
   
Purpose : This technique draws a team toward consensus in a logical, objective way.
   
Procedure :
  • Start with a list of options.
  • Choose the criteria, the scoring system, and the desired score.
  • Draw the grid with the criteria and scoring across the top and the list of options down the left side.
  • Consider each option in relation to the criteria and write the score on the grid.
  • When the grid is completed, evaluate the findings.
  • Determine whether other criteria, or an adjustment in the existing criteria, are necessary.
  • Select the best option.
