1. Hepatitis B Epidemiology and Its Complications
Author : James Dickinson, Wun Yuk Tsan. Department of Community & Family Medicine, Chinese University of Hong Kong
Description :
An epidemiological model to calculate the effects of hepatitis B infection. The death rate for male carriers is doubled between the ages of 35 and 60, while the rates for women are barely raised. Average life expectancy for men is reduced by about 7 years, and for women 2 years. Though alarming, these effects mean that most of these men will still live to over 70 years, wile will live to an average age of 84.

2. Hepatitis B Carriage Rates among Health Screening Attendees
Author : James Dickinson, Joyce Tang, John S Tam. Departments of Family and Community Medicine, and Microbiology, Chinese University of Hong Kong, and United Christian Nethersole Community Health Services, Hong Kong
Description :
It appears likely that carrier prevalence estimates of 10% for males are correct, but for women the proportion may be lower.

3. Understanding the Outcome of Hepatitis B Carriage
Author : Wun Yuk Tsan, James Dickinson. Department of Community & Family Medicine, Chinese University of Hong Kong
Description :
Cancer and cirrhosis incidence and death rates are related to ethnicity, being high among Asian groups and low in European populations. The incidence and death rates increase with age, this disease largely occurring among male over 40, The rates for women are substantially lower, and among them, cancer tends to occur later in life.
