Scope of Public Health Nursing Services

 

Elderly Health Service

Elderly Health Centres

l             Conduct health education activities to enhance the knowledge of elderly clients on disease prevention and health promotion;

l             Participate in conducting health assessment for elderly clients to detect health problems and provide them with health counseling and care as appropriate.

l             Participate in various elderly health surveys that are launched in Elderly Health Service for service development and health promotion.

l             Carry out Government Vaccination Program for eligible members.

 

Visiting Health Teams

l             Carry out influenza vaccination and arrange pneumocoaccal and human swine vaccinations for the high-risk groups.

l             Assist Vaccination Office in launching Residential Vaccination Programme in residential care homes for the elderly.

             

Elderly Health Service continued to develop health education resources, such as DVD, VCD, publication, Do-It-Yourself (DIY) health educational kit and resources for the provider of the elderly services. The objective is mainly to disseminate health information to the public through various channels to empower elders and their carers to better control and improve their health. Apart from distribution to elderly service providers as part of the train-the-trainer programmes, they are also made available for sale to the public. In addition, some resources are uploaded to the website and YouTube for free download. Besides, health messages are delivered through mass media, aiming at further promote elderly health in the community.
