Objectives of Public Health Nursing Services

w      To assess and identify the health needs of the individual, families and communities; to prioritize such needs and provide relevant preventive, promotive, curative and rehabilitative care according to nursing standards and related policies;

w        To contribute to, and/or work in partnership with other health care team members in the delivery of public health actions or programmes in different settings;

w        To facilitate and empower the individual, families and communities to have increased control over the determinants of health;

w        To work collaboratively with members of other professions and sectors in preventing ill health, controlling the spread of diseases and promoting the health of the community;

w        To advocate for the individual, families and communities in promoting health via contributing to the formulation of health strategies or influencing health policies;

w        To evaluate the outcome of health nursing actions/programmes and/or participate in the evaluation of other health programmes;

w        To participate in and contribute to the development of evidence-based public health nursing practice aiming at providing quality care for the public.
